The participation of athletes in high school rowing has increased dramatically over the past decade in response to women’s rowing becoming an NCAA Championship sport. In 1997 there were 54 Division I teams, now there are 87. Currently within the Division I, II and III schools there are 145 teams with over 7000 athletes. The number of female rowers has nearly doubled since 1997. Men’s rowing continues to support more than 100 teams averaging 40 rowers per squad.

Rowing is a critical differentiator to get into college.
Many families are looking at rowing as a critical differentiator in supporting their daughter or son’s ability to get into college. With over 200 colleges and universities fielding approximately 10,000 athletes, their instinct is right.

With the wide range of recruiting timetables between DI, DII, and DIII schools; differences in scholarship and financial aid options, and differences in academic criteria, it is not surprising that most parents find the recruiting process confusing and complicated and are in need of help. We believe the time is right for a professional recruiting consulting service to help prepare student athletes to use their rowing skills to be accepted into the college of their choice.

Professional Recruiting Consulting Service
In this fast paced and challenging environment, a comprehensive program is required in order to maximize your child’s chances.

Parents have witnessed how quickly the DI recruiting process has unfolded in the last few years. Several of the top rowing schools are almost finished selecting their recruiting class in the summer prior to senior year and many parents are very nervous that they are missing the boat.

Parents and student athletes looking for the edge
Parents and student athletes are looking for any edge they can get to help with admissions to the top schools. The Ivy League, The PAC 12, The Big 10 and NESCAC have become more competitive than ever. A great rower could be in an excellent position to attend an academic “stretch school.” These are just a few reasons why we believe a hands-on consulting service is in demand.

How do you as a parent and student athlete, get your arms around the requirements for success? How do you navigate admissions, financial aid, and gain the visibility and attention of college coaches?

Professional, Hands-on, Consulting Firm

Gold Medal Rowing Recruiting is a professional, hands-on, consulting firm designed to give high school student athletes a significant advantage in the college recruiting process.

Deep Understanding of Academic and Athletic Requirements
Our team has a deep understanding of the academic and athletic requirements for the successful placement of student athletes at all levels of NCAA rowing programs. We have personal relationships with and have gained the confidence of the DI, DII, and DIII NCAA college coaches.

Custom Program
Many popular web sites allow student athletes to post an athletic resume and highlight video and inform them of what they need to do to be recruited.

The Gold Medal team approach is completely different. Helen will work directly with you and interact with college coaches on your behalf. Our team determines academic and athletic interests and then creates a custom program that is executed over a one to three-year period to maximize your chances of achieving your objectives. Throughout the program we will be in regular communication with your child’s college counselor and high school coach.

College Coach Outreach Program
This team will put together a multi-year program focusing on skill, strength and power, erg score and academic requirements. Between sophomore and junior summers we will begin our college coach outreach program. It is designed to support a formal two-way communication program. Finally, we will provide decision assistance around academic requirements, competitiveness of the rowing program and coaching styles to create a perfect match for your child. Helen wants families to make the right choice based on informed decisions.

There is no other program available that combines this degree of coaching experience, personal relationships with college coaches, and personal one on one service.
